2024 STAR Student

2024 STAR Student

Congratulations to this year’s STAR Student, Genevieve Howard, and STAR Teacher, Mrs. Kasey Saari!

Howard earned this recognition due to her academic achievement and performance on the SAT and selected Mrs. Saari as the most influential teacher in her academic career.

To qualify for the STAR nomination, seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.

"I am beyond grateful to have been selected as the STAR Student," said Howard. "I'd like to first commend my fellow classmates for their extremely impressive accomplishments. With academic honors like this, I believe that it is the development of the student that matters most, and I am certain that the Class of 2025 has seriously put in the work. This award is the culmination of my efforts throughout high school, but it is also indicative of the immense support I have received from my family, my friends, and from Mount Pisgah."

"Our faculty has recognized her intellect, ingenuity, and unwavering commitment to excellence. She values the process of learning even more than her consistently high test scores," said Mrs. Saari. "She often seeks opportunities to go beyond the requirements of an assignment, driven by a genuine desire to deepen her understanding. Genevieve's potential knows no bounds!"

The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program is sponsored, administered and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) and the PAGE Foundation. Since its creation by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce in 1958, the STAR program has honored nearly 27,000 students.

STAR begins each year in participating Georgia high schools when the STAR Student is named and chooses a STAR Teacher to share in this recognition. The students and their teachers are honored by their schools and receive special recognition in their communities from one of the more than 170 statewide civic organizations and businesses that serve as local sponsors of the STAR program.
